Friendship or Brotherly Love is one of the most important tenets practiced by Freemasonry and Imperial College Lodge.
As stated in the Covering Letter sent by Alexander Gow to the then Grand Master the raison d'être of Imperial College Lodge was to:
To maintain the "esprit de corp" of its members.
To promote the maintenance of college ties and interests while abroad.
To afford a common meeting ground for all when at home.
These points have remained the foundation of Imperial College Lodge since its consecration and have been reiforcerd over the years as we approach our Centenary in 2023.
Imperial College Lodge has a dedicated support network, lead by the officers within the Lodge.
There is the Lodge Mentor, who with his Personal Mentors will support the newer members in their initial stages in joining Freemasonry. Answering their questions and queries.
There is also the Almoner who acts as the Welfare Officer within the Lodge. Though mainly pasoral care now, they can highlight issues of the Lodge's members to trained Brethren, who can assess and evaluate the member's needs and get assistance where it is required.
Finally, there is the Charity Steward, who advises the Lodge on which charities the Lodge supports, makes sure the monies donated go to the correct places and arranges the charity collections and receiving donations.
Integrity and Truth are amongst the most important tenets practiced by Freemasonry and Imperial College Lodge.
Being part of an organisation with a science and engineering foundation, the members of Imperial College Lodge have a background of searching for natural truths with integrity, based on evidence.
Some of the members are also teachers or tutors in the science and enginering fields and therefore, pride themselves in the fact their teachings are given with scientific integrity.
Imperial College Lodge members also act with the upmost honesty and integrity in all their walks of life and dealings with others outside of the Lodge and Freemasonry.
Therefore, members of Imperial College Lodge are regarded as honest, upright and fair individuals.
